journal

Ok hectic week, I owe my english teacher a million works and I have had no time to write on my blog that has little or no audience at all. But right now I'm reading blink a great book by Malcolm Gladwell... interesting and page turner. I also read the bracelet by colette and a cup of tea by katherine mansfield. Great stories that make you reflect but still have a little fashion inside them.

today I read a fascinating essay written by Prince Charles of Wales, for Vogue!!! to start with this is the possibly future king writing for Vogue!! because he was asked to contribute on one of the journals Vogue has. H e began by saying that he is not fashionable but that if he knows one thing is that the fashion industry is a very influential media that can at some point help him to educate people about ways to improve the global warming.it was great to see the ways he's helping the planet; like for example reusing clothe that can be called, using vintage clothing, he's also promoting the use of wool in clothe because it is an eco-friendly fabric, well heres a few things about him that where not in the article:The Prince Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Since 1952, he has been heir apparent to the thrones of the Commonwealth realms. After earning a bachelor of arts from Trinity College, Cambridge, Charles served a tour of duty with Royal Navy in 1971–76. this info was taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles,_Prince_of_Wales.

i read va-va-bom from the september issue of vogue it was a great article explaining how this year in the new york fashion week (the starting week for the fashion collections) they used bigger models with more curves like the  victoria secret models, I was not surprised when I read that designers like Marc Jacobs said the models gave a fresh style and felling to their runways, but then when the vogue reporters ask him do you think this is going to last? he said NO, because it was appropriate for the collection who knows what future collections may need to flourish, and like that the rest of designers gave excuses to their answers about not considering for other collections. And this incredibly lucky victoria secret models that chose VS as a life style rather than a carrier are left confused and tired of being said that that was a once in a life time experience... So having curves is a sign and a curvier women is not pretty enough for the clothes they are selling? how do they assure people clothes are going to fit and look good if don't fit amazing bodies like the VS models?. I leave you with the doubt.

after reading riding high from the september issue of vogue, i was so jealous of Carlota Casiraghi she has the face, she's photogenic, she has a passion, a boyfriend, and most importantly she's intelligent in every aspect of life without leaving out the most relevant right now (fashion), she has a special gucci line made only for her and her horse, how lucky can someone be? but impressibly this girl is modest and has the best genes of her royal family, in contrast with the english princesses, charlotte is beautiful and harmonic, she is becoming a fashion icon and the muse of big designers such as Karl Langerfeld the creative designer of the leading fashion house  CHANEL. I loved the article it was so relaxed and it demanded very light concentration and reflection thinking. I f you are interested in someone like charlotte I definitely recommend this one!!

i haven't read anything for a long time because i was watching gossip girl oh lala so so good!
but let's go to the point i read (nostalgia) a swan's way by: jean nathan (vogue issue of december 09). I perceived so much passion coming from him  he tells the story of his journey to find the women that owned the Dior dresses that where one exhibition that day ( the costume institute's 1997 exhibition of the Dior house 15th anniversary) he found himself in something very common of us the fashion lovers, he was in love with a pale blue tulle strapless ball gown sprinkled with iridescent sequins, we he felt something was missing and long enough he knew the missing piece was the women " who had owned this dresses? she most have been the embodiment of glamour", he says. but nobody knew who was the owner so he enrolls in the search of this women he finds her granddaughter and together they find her story and her life! quite interesting!!

the other article i read today is (vogue editor launches new war on size-zero fashion from the times)
it was written last year and it is about a letter sent from Alexandra Shulman to the biggest fashion houses such as Chanel, Galliano, Prada, Versace, Yves saint lauren and Balenciaga, telling them how disturbed she felt when the fashion houses sent her minuscule garments for her photo shoot and how she had to hire minuscule models to fit on this clothes that don't fit the top models!!! and how extreme the situation got you can read the article on the interesting facts page!

I just finished the most incredible poem i have ever read, the poem is (Time tested beauty tips) By Sam Levenson. the poem is about the true beauty of a women. "for lovely eyes seek out the good in people, for a slim figure share your food with the hungry... Remember if you need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of your arm... the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!" this are some of the mind blowing sentences the poem holds, not to mention this was Audrey Hepburn's favorite poem!! and it is the perfect form of living the perfect combination of good and classy. It can be a new way of life and endless resource for beauty REAL BEAUTY  that the fashion world has sometimes forgotten, I strongly encourage you to read it!

same date other:
(december issue of vogue 2009 USA) article: onward and upward by John Heilpern, the article talks about the new chairman of the NEA (national endowment for the arts) Rocco Landesman,  I was amazed at the flattering description the author gave of the risk taking, pugnacious, smart man Rocco is perceived as I was tempted to research about him but the article nailed it in terms of information, it even talks about Obama's arts policy! the article is so complete it also talks about margo lion and frank rich from the New York Times, they cover his family too, his uncle a jazz lyricist, with a doctorate on ( dramatic literature of the yale school of drama), his parents that were haute bohemians who ran a renowned cabaret theater in St. Louis, Missouri. The author also covers the budget of the art council in America compared to the one in England, and the hopes landesman has of the budget improving with the Obamas support. It is a very complete article that covers (economy, politics, art, and Rocco's new job).

today I finished reading the Audrey Hepburn biography I like it the author has a tone in his reading like he has the hope that his biography inspires people, and changes their way of perceiving Audrey, he represents her as a hard working women with good values and concernes, the book begins with her life and her husbands life, but even before that theres a whole chapter with photos of her amazing pictures of her rare beauty I  really liked the book I definitely recommend it, it is a short book with a very precise review of her life!
